As implacable as the stone she commands, runeshaper Janissa Stonetide batters the enemies of the trollbloods by turning the very earth they tread upon against them. At her command, walls of stone spring up to block an enemy advance, the ground rumbles and shifts beneath a foe’s feet, and boulders crash down from the heavens to crush the life from those who stand against the United Kriels.

Tough
- Steady - This model cannot become knocked down.
- Battle Wizard - Once per turn, when this model destroys one or more enemy models with a melee attack during its activation, immediately after the attack is resolved it can make one Magic Ability special attack or special action.
- Magic Ability [ 8 ] - This model can cast spells. Normally this uses up the model's Combat Action and as such is limited to one spell per activation, but exceptions do exist.
- Veteran Leader [ Runeshaper ] - While in this model's command range, friendly Runeshaper models gain +1 to attack rolls.
Weapons
- Earthsplitter - 1" reach, P+S 9 pickaxe.

Place a 4˝ AOE template anywhere completely within the spellcaster's command range. While completely within the AOE, models gain +2 DEF against ranged and magic attacks and their ranged weapons gain Arcing Fire. The AOE remains in play for one round.
- Arcing Fire - When attacking with a weapon with Arcing Fire, a model can ignore intervening models except those within 1" of the target.

Thoughts on Janissa Stonetide
Janissa Stonetide in a nutshell
Janissa is an interesting toolbox solo with a high magic skill and some melee chops. She wants to get stuck in at the right time so she can take advantage of her armor piercing attack on the correct target. She can finish off a wounded warbeast and cast one of her useful spells pretty reliably if she survives to the mid game.
Until then, she can contribute from behind the front lines with rock hammers and raise earth. Raise earth itself is a very interesting spell that makes it much more difficult for juicy targets to hide from your other guns. Charging at a weaker target to tectonic shift and move a more important target in a direction of your choice can win games.
Combos & Synergies
Drawbacks & Downsides
- She's useful - but not a core part of any list and most tournament lists go with models that work more closely with their core gameplan.
- because she can’t cast dig in she is actually often a bit easier to remove than a standard runeshaper, her vet leader bubble also puts a big target on her head.
Tricks & Tips
- Although she's primarily a spellcaster, she hits quite hard in melee. Don't be afraid to get stuck in, especially if you've good chances of getting a kill for Battle Wizard.
- Since the Armor Piercing is a special attack it needs to be declared. It counts as a melee attack in regards to Battle Wizard. Combo this with Rock Hammer for some decent infantry clear.

Rules Clarifications
|
Rules Clarification: : Magical Damage (Edit) (Click Expand to read)
|
* The "Damage Type: Magical" is not inherited by "secondary" damage from a weapon. That is, stuff like arcs (Electro Leap) or hazards (Scather). (Infernal Ruling)
- All spells have "Damage Type: Magical" (refer errata).
- This is inherited by "immediate" secondary damage (such as Eruption of Spines). (Infernal Ruling)
- and might be inherited by "lingering" secondary damage (see below).
- If a spell leaves a template in play that does damage to models that walk around in it, then:
- if it is not described as a hazard it will do magical damage to models that walk around in it. (Example: Razor Wall)
- if it is a hazard then it will not do magical damage to models that walk around in it. Instead, it does whatever damage type is specified by the spell description. (Example: Breath of Corruption).
- (Infernal Ruling)
- If a weapon/spell includes Magic Damage and another kind of elemental damage it will still damage Incorporeal models. Incorporeal models are not affected by the rule "if an attack does multiple types of damage and a model is immune to at least one it is immune to the entire attack."
The phrase "immune to non-magical damage" should be interpreted as "immune to damage that doesn't include Damage Type: Magical" (not interpreted as "has immunity to Corrosion and Electricity and Cold and etc.")

Rules Clarification : Advance Deployment (Edit)
- Sometimes you can attach a WA or CA that doesn't have AD to a unit that does have AD. If you do, the attachment effectively gains AD and they can all advance deploy together. (Locked Thread)
|
Rules Clarification : Tough - None yet. (Edit)
|
Rules Clarification : Battle Wizard (Edit)
- A Battle Wizard doesn't have to kill a model to cast a spell. They can instead skip making melee attacks and use their Combat Action to cast a spell.
- Cavalry Battle Wizards can trigger it from their Mount Attacks. (Infernal Ruling)
- This does not, however, allow them to trigger it twice in the same turn. (Infernal Ruling)
|
|
Rules Clarification : Veteran Leader (Edit)
- Veteran Leaders don't give themselves the buff, because of the "other models within ..." clause. However, if you have two models giving out the buff, then they can give it to each other. (Locked thread)
- If a model can get Veteran Leader from two sources (such as Vet Leader [Winterguard] simultaneous with Vet Leader [Assault Kommandos]) then the benefit does not stack. (Infernal Ruling)
- Some versions say "friendly" and some don't. Regardless, Veteran Leader only buffs friendly models. (Infernal Ruling)
|
|
Rules Clarification : Magic Ability (Edit)
- Nearly all Magic Ability spells require the spellcaster to use their Combat Action to cast the spell. As such it is not an "at any time" ability (like it is when warcasters/warlocks cast spells). This means ...
- You must complete your movement before you use a MA.
- A model in a unit cannot use its Combat Action to cast a spell until all members of the unit have completed their movement. (Infernal Ruling)
- You cannot make initial ranged or initial melee attacks on the same turn you use a MA.
- You cannot buy additional melee/ranged attacks after using a MA special attack. Refer to the core rulebook, "Special attacks listed as a rule of the model itself are neither melee attacks nor ranged attacks. The rules for these special attacks indicate the nature of any additional attacks that can be made afterward, if any."
- You cannot use a MA on the same turn you charge. Because a charge must (almost always) be followed by a melee attack.
- There are a few models that can use a Magic Ability without using their Combat Action. These models get around all the restrictions listed above.
- Models with Geomancy or Necromancy can use a Magic Ability at "any time" just like a warcaster/warlock.
- Models with Battle Wizard or Necrophage can make melee attacks then get a bonus "free" spell.
- Models with Combat Caster can cast a spell before charging, then do a normal charge + melee attack.
- Note that Battle Wizards, Combat Casters, etc have the option to use their Combat Action to cast a spell. Their special rule is in addition to the normal spell casting, not instead of.

Push - General ( Edit) [Show/Hide]
- Pushed models do not change their facing.
- Pushed models move at half rate through difficult terrain. Also, Pathfinder doesn't apply during pushes.
- Pushed models stop if they contact anything - a model of any size, or any obstacles or obstructions.
- You don't get free strikes against pushed models, because it is "involuntary movement" and therefore does not count as an advance.
- Pushed models suffer the effects of anything they move through (such as acid clouds).
- If you use a Push vs a charging model (via a free strike for example), this will stop the charge movement (refer core rulebook).
- However, if the pushed model is in melee range of its charge target after the push, then it is considered a successful charge. (Infernal Ruling)
- In that scenario, you measure whether the charging model moved 3" or less excluding the push distance. (Infernal Ruling)
- If you push a model to a position where it regains Incorporeal (for instance you push it out of range of an Exorcist) then what happens is (Being Checked by Infernals)
