Protectorate Light Warjack

Armed with devastating long-range rockets, the Redeemer was designed to deliver judgement from afar. The warjack’s deadly projectiles are launched into enemy ranks to explode in a cascade of deadly debris that leaves enemy infantry blasted, burned, and praying for the release of death.

Thoughts on Redeemer

Redeemer in a nutshell

Guide me O thou Great Redeemer! Boom! The Redeemer sends three inaccurate rockets into the enemy every turn. A great Warjack for knocking off enemy support pieces that often sport low ARM but need to stay with the main army in order to be effective. It also cracks ARM surprisingly well because those three boostable shots will spike evetually and you have the Choir damage buff and potentially the Hermit to up those numbers.

Combos & Synergies

  • Choir of Menoth, naturally.
  • High Exemplar Kreoss - even a Redeemer can hit knocked down targets - and it does a lot of damage when it hits.
  • Feora, Protector of the Flame can let the Redeemer set lots of things on fire.
  • Reclaimer Gatekeeper can provide nice buffs the way the Redeemer works. Strike True and Aim in combination brings the Redeemer up to an effective RAT 5.
  • Initiate Tristan Durant can perfectly fill two Redeemers with focus.
  • Deliverer Arms Master - High Angle Fire can help your rockets to bypass screening models. Artillerist is a great way to mitigate Inaccurate.
  • Brand of Heresy from Reznik1 lets it damage even a heavy target.
  • Eye of Menoth from Severius0 brings it to Rat 6 base and takes the rockets to Pow 13 (7 blast, 9 with choir). It is also an excellent Road to War trigger for him.
  • Severius1 also brings Eye of Menoth, as well as Death Sentence to fix accuracy even further.
  • Severius2 - Does not have Eye of Menoth, but has Awareness.
  • Feora4 - Probably the best Fire Starter target for her, since it can set multiple foes on fire with a good skyhammer drift. Being able to kill blast immune/resistant models with the continuous fire damage is also great. As with Sevy0, it also great at triggering Road to war.
  • Reckoner - Flare is a great way to mitigate Inaccurate. Apply Flare to a heavy to and let the Redeemer rip into it since it no longer needs to boost accuracy and can spend 3 focus to boost damage rolls.
  • Kreoss1 - The feat knocks everything in his control range down, virtually negating Inaccurate entirely.
  • Visgoth Rhoven & Honor Guard - Eyeless Sight goes a long way on ranged models.
  • Feora, the Conquering Flame - Incite fixes accuracy and pump up damage, and with three shots it makes excellent use of the buff.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • The only draw back it has is Inaccurate and there are a plethora of ways to mitigate that. Oh and it's a slouch in melee, but you don't take the Redeemer to punch things in the face.

Tricks & Tips

  • You can bombard the back of the enemy lines from turn 1, if going second. Some lucky scatters can take out squishy support solos, especially if you use your power-up focus to boost the damage roll. Just keep in mind that working out too much scatters can eat up your deathclock.
  • What is mentioned about the clock management in timed matches for the Grenadier and Butcher2, stands here too. Before new players fills their lists up with Redeemers, consider the time it takes for working out the 3 AoEs.

Rules Clarifications

Rules Clarification : Inaccurate - None yet. (Edit)

Rules Clarification : Warjack      (Edit)

  • The Cortex/Induction core rule means a warjack cannot have more than 3 focus at any time (maybe 4 if they're really special).
    • Many abilities give out focus and don't state an upper limit (such as Convection and Empower). Despite not stating an upper limit, they are always "hard-limited" by the core rule.
    • A warjack can have more than 3 focus during a turn, though. For instance, a knocked down warjack can Power Up and be Allocated 2 focus, then spend 1 to shake knockdown, then another model could Empower it back up to 3.
  • Warjacks cannot spend focus outside of their activation. For instance, they can't boost free strikes or trigger Powerful Attack on Broadsides. (Infernal Ruling)

Inert warjacks

  • Abilities that say they cannot be used if the model is stationary (such as Shield Guard) cannot be used while a warjack is inert, either. Refer "Warcaster Destruction", page 59 of the core rulebook.
